BRAC University Architecture Students Visit Korail with ReWET

Khondaker Hasibul Kabir—a Bangladeshi landscape architect and sustainability advocate working with BRAC, Grameen, and others—led a group of Architecture Department students from BRAC University on a field visit to the Korail lake site as part of the ReWET project. They sketched lakeside structures and explored the built environment. Through participatory mapping, students examined the interplay between informal settlements and the wetland ecosystem. With Kabir Sir’s expertise in rural and sustainable architecture, this on-the-ground experience connected classroom knowledge to community realities. The visit aimed to inspire a new generation of architects to champion sustainable urban design and ecological restoration.
