Agroecological farming toolkit design and development

On 21st July, a strategic meeting was held at RDRC under the Re-WET project to plan a bioremediation pilot starting on 8th August. The aim is to align bioremediation efforts with the ongoing agricultural practices of local wetland stewards.

The meeting brought together experts including Dr. Alia Shahed (BUET), Syed Tasneem Mahmud (Greenbud), Khondokar Hasibul Kabir (BRAC University), Fahim Uddin (Garbageman Ltd), and members from Nagar Abad. Together, they explored context-appropriate bioremediation approaches like floating beds and phytoremediation, using local materials and knowledge.

The discussion focused on low-tech, community-driven solutions that can work alongside existing farming to restore wetland ecosystems. This collaborative planning sets the stage for the upcoming pilot, combining science and stewardship for meaningful ecological impact.
