From floating beds to cleaner water, from waste to compost, and from no voice to empowerment. Korail is showing how simple ideas, local action, and community voices can create real change.
Beth Downe, REDAA Programme Manager at the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), visited our REWET project site in Korail to see these solutions in action.
During her visit, she explored the demonstration grounds (ghers) and learned why and how the different approaches were introduced. She saw the floating beds up close and learned how they were made, why they were introduced, and how the plants help clean the water through phytoremediation.
She also visited the composting and waste management area to see how organic waste is being managed and turned into useful resources.
Beth spent time with our stewards, learning about their work and seeing how they are supporting the project on the ground. She also talked with farmers, listened to their experiences, and learned about the agricultural practices they are using through the project.
The visit was a great opportunity to see the work firsthand, exchange experiences, and hear directly from the people involved.
Small solutions, local action, real change.
